Hey, Im sitting here and thought not really wrote anything on Eygpt so here goes...
Well it was two week beach hols to Sharm el Sheikh, which i loved, the place is great, really hot all year round. The Eygtian women are bloody good looking too:P
We arrived on the Monday after missing the flight out, bloody monday mornoing traffic. so £180 quid lighter we managed to get there a bit later that day :). The place is really modern and security is really tight which was reassuring.
Having spent the first two days on the beach we headed to Cairo to see The Pyramids on the Thursday. The flight was short and only 40 quid return a bargain. As soon as we got there, it was like being in a different country, smog, very hot and herds of people and cattle everywhere. Ive been to a few places round the world, but this was the most eye opening The hassle you get is extreme to say the little, but all good fun, apart from when they start tugging at you lol.
We manage to find a taxi, the driver spoke very little English but we assumed he knew what we ment, we arranged for him to take us round for the next two days and show us the sights. We thought we were heading to the hotel, but the driver had different ideas. He took into the back streets of Cairo, real shanty town. We pulled up onto this really crowded street, a huge man was jestering us to go inside a bulidng with him. Pat and myself just stared at each other thinkng, whats going on? The taxi driver had a big grin and said follow him, so gingerly we did lol, it turned out he was offering horse rides thorugh the desert to the pyramids. lol
After alot of haggling later we managed to get on our way on horses into the desert, it seemed like miles wed gone, the sights we're amazing, something unique.
We finally arrived at the pyramids and the guide told us he wasnt allowed in The Pyramids, this was because he'd had to bribe every cop on the way just to get this far lol. So we headed down into the tomb. At this point I realised why the guide had said are you sure you want to go down lol. It was about 60C with no air and you were bent over double lol. As I looked back I could see that all the booze, takeaways and fags over the years had not helped Pat on this adventure lol. As we got to the first opening Pat was the worst for wear. Id made a joke to him that Id be burying him down in the tomb, I was starting think it might come true lol. As we made it up to the place where Kafu's tomb was there was a guide down there, how he coped down there was beyond me lol. The tomb was basic and not that much to see, we were thinking this was a serperate chamber and they had moved his sphegosic there, but defo worth the pain :)
On the way out, looking back I could see Pat was struggling, so in true mates sprit, I left the weak one behind lol. As I got back to the open air, the air hit my lungs its was an expereince ill never forget, air never felt soo good lol. You have to go down and have a look round but Id prepare yourself for the heat lol.
On the flight the usual happened to me, got stopped by customs, who thought my travel plug was a bomb, still thinking wheather to take that bloody thing with meon my travels.lol. Pat tried to come over and see what was happening but instead got 2 ak47's pointed at him and the solders shouting bus, bus lol, he still blames me for this lol
The rest off the holiday was brill, theBanana boating and Go-karting was brill. I had a few real brill nights out in na'ma bay with Amanda and Helen, two pharamists who had packed more pills than Ive ever seen lol... we miss u guys :)
rich.
