Well, after a very long flight and a mad sprint through Heathrow I finally made it to my connecting flight to Machester and I am now in Doncaster, specifically Scaftworth which is a lane with a dozen houses and a pub, The King William, but it is absolutely gorgeous.
On Thurday, John, James and I went to York and I don't know how but we managed to spend 2.5hr in York Minister looking at all the tombs of dead kings and princes and the undercroft which is where you can view the remnants of the roman fortress and training camp. Don't ask me why but we climbed the 275 steps to the top of the Minster, and while I was over it about half way up (the stairs were really tiny and you were just going round and round in circles) it was worth it by the time we got up to the top.
We also went to the Shambles which is where scenes from the first Harry Potter movie were filmed - it was the lane way where Harry buys his wand. It was amazing, all the buildings look like there are about to fall any minute and at one place the second story of the houses are only one yard apart over the lane. Apartently, the story goes that a boy and girl lived in each of the opposing houses and there parents refused to let them see each other so they would go up to the top storey and reach over the lane to kiss!
We also made it to York Keep which is the remants of the old castle. You can still see parts of the old settlement but most of it is gone.
That evening Donna, John and I headed out to Donny for "curry club" which I can safely say is no were near as good as back home.
