Gday from the land down under (Australia). Many apologies for the lapse in blog entries. We have been very busy. Since our last blog entry we moved on from Krabi to Ko Samui, a small Island south of Ko Pha Ngan. Our bus journey was again terrible, with ridiculous Americans and a brilliant German who, 15 minutes after a toilet stop announced that he had an 'emergency problem toilet'. He was hilarious.
Ko Samui was very relaxing, many beach trips and bbq's. Large pigs being roasted on a spit outside restaurants. Many free samples. The main attraction in Ko Samui was the Full Moon Party, which is a 20 minute speed boat ride away on Ko Pha Ngan. The party was absolutely brilliant. Hundreds of people dancing, passed out or watching fire throwers. The beach was lined with small stalls selling buckets of alcohol. We had too many of these...2 in fact. Jamie went home at about 2 without Darius and John knowing. This caused a lot of searching and worry. But everything was ok when we found him at the hotel. He is sorry.
One day we had an all you can eat bbq for 390 baht. Thats about 6 quid. We had huge plates of meat and the bbq cook looked annoyed that we asked for 3 of everything. There were about 12 different things. All of us literally ate all we could eat. We decided it was eat as much as you can. We ate some other varied animals, like crocodile and shark. Both were very nice.
We had to stay a night in Surat Thani because we had a flight booked back to Bangkok. There is nothing there, but we found a bar with a shrine to Bob Marley, so it was ok.
We stayed on Khao San Road again in Bangkok, and basically ate and drank for three days. Jamie's friend Martin came and visited for a couple of nights, and we all had a good time on the razzzzz. We went to the National Museum, which was rainy and boring. Too many pots, but they did have a guns and toys gallery. And a money gallery, which had about 2.60GBP, which was pretty exciting. Good old Blighty. There was a bar right by our hostel which was open until 6am, which was good, but not so good.
We have spent 6 nights in Melbourne now and we have had a really good time. The weather is a little cold, but the women are beautiful. There seem to be lots of Irish guys about, our hostel bar could be in Ireland. John says never challenge an Irish man to a drinking contest. He's broken that rule quite a few times though. We have been to see some Aussie Rules footie at the MCG, which is a huge stadium, and a crazy game. There was also a Computer Games exhibition called 'Game On' where we could play loads of old and new games.
Gotta go now, will update more soon.
