So we arrive in Singapore after a 14 hour train ride and a very confusing boarder crossing! We arrive at 9.30am so the traffic is mayhem but at least this Asian country tries to have some order in the traffic...... Well if you call order having one lane just for mopeds! This consists of around 20000 of the annoying little buzzers bumper to bumper (or wheel to wheel) trying to weave around each other! Crazy!
We head to our hostel which is surprisingly very nice and then head out the centre of Singapore for some sight seeing.......
One of the most famous attractions in Singapore is the singapore flyer, this is the largest big wheel in the world! It s mahoosive each carriage holds around 30 people and the carriages are transparent cylinders! The views from the top are really great!
After that we head to the famous Raffles hotel, this is a very posh old English style hotel which is famous for having invented the cocktail The Singapore sling! So needing no arm twisting whatsoever we pop along to try one (it would be rude not to!) picture this...... We are in the cleanest country in the world, not one piece of litter is on the floor outside we walk into one of the nicest hotels in the world and head to the bar upstairs,,, only to find a bar where the floor is covered with nut shells, the tradition is to throw your monkey but shells wherever you wish!! Strange but true! So when in Rome..... We sit sipping a $16 cocktail throwing nut shells on the floor!! Standard behaviour for a Tuesday afternoon!!
Following our nut shell throwing we head outside to catch the tram but waiting for us outside is a little old man with no teeth on a tuc tuc tricycle! He offers us a lift to the station for a small fee! This tuc tuc is basically a bicycle with a carriage on the back and due to the fact that the little old man weighed only 2 stone piss wet through he found it really difficult to pull us 3 idiots on the back! So he shoes Dean off in the middle of a dual carriage way and demands him to push us! With us now going in the opposite direction of the oncoming traffic watching Dean try and push us is the funniest thing I have ever witnessed in my life! Good times! We pay the man just so he will let us get off, we are now further away from the tram station than when we first started but in fits of laughter!!!!
The next day we act like true tourists and go on an open tour bus ride we en up in little India which was a smaller version of cheetham hill - we even thought we saw joface runnning through with her iPod on!
We end the day going to the Marina bay, we get there just in time for a hollogram light show across the Marina with what a wonderful world playing in the background, and what a moment that was..... Singapore looking beautiful and the company wasn't bad either!!
We are flying to Cambodia so due to Stotty informing us of how amazing Singapore airport is and how you can go for a sauna and a swim and a massage whilst waiting for your flight, we decide to pack our trunks and set off to the airport early! We arrive in plenty of time and can't wait for a bit of pampering! What stotty forgot to mention was there are three parts to the airport,, terminal 1, terminal 2 and Budget! No prizes for guessing which one we were flying from!! And as uve probably guessed there was no chuffin sauna or swimming pool and certainly no chuffin massage!! On the flight we get no frills style and Bangkok here we come for round 2!!
