Well the first week in Sydney goes like this.......
Stayed in kings cross area..... Known for all it's frostyboots (prostitutes)! Nice!! Stayed in a hostel called Asylum!!! And it did just as it says on the tin,,, it was full of nut jobs! The owner looked like right said Fred and there was a long term resident/inpatient called Steve who liked to flash his bits to Dean! The whole hostel thing wasn't really our thing- waking up to a double of fat b****** from austin powers every morning eating last nights pizza turned our stomachs! So it was our mission to find a campervan quicksticks!! We looked at a few, a school bus, a yellow submarine, a s***hole and we finally decided on our beloved Bruce! Our White transit van turned campervan and we luuuuurve it! Not like us at all we do everything by the book! Get a mechanical check get insured fully comp, get it registered in our name pay for a toll rd tag, bish bash bosh, job done! All in all this takes us about a week and we can't wait to get it on the open rd! So first day of driving goes like this.......... First some redneck nob reverses into us! All ok no damage done, so we set off on a 2hr journey - sounds easy enough - think not! 1st rest stop Anna runs full speed into a glass door and obtains a fat lip and bruised nose, we then take a wrong turn (even tho we have a sat nav!) this takes us on a highway with no turn offs we then realise the petrol is near empty! - not winning at all! We just make it to a petrol station - pump isn't working, put key in ignition to move it to the next pump - battery flat! Get jump leads out - can't find battery! Ask someone where the battery is - realise that with an automatic it won't start in drive mode - switch it to park mode and engine starts!! Go to pay - forgot pin! Eventually pay for petrol and set off - seatbelt is stuck in seat! Stop, get out sort seatbelt out - eventually on our way!!! 2 hr journey turns into 4 1/2 hours!!!! Not starting as we mean to go on! But we are on the open rd and ready to roll!
Also in Sydney we see the opera house and Sydney bridge have drinks by the opera house - Moment!
On the way to Melbourne in Bruce is a right laugh! Our first road trip and even though we r new to this game we are prepared! It takes us 3 days to drive to Melbourne with a couple of overnight stays! Now we aren't the best at budgeting but we decide to give it a real good go, so for the first 2 nights we stay at rest stops which let u park overnight, they have toilets but no showers so we rough it and eat beans and pasta for 3 days with no showers! Now we feel like real travellers! So on our last night of travelling we decide to stop somewhere with showers at the small fee of $15 great batting!! It's a pub which charges backpackers like ourselves to park the van overnight and use their facilities in the morning, just wat we needed! It's owned by an old Greek couple and inside the large pub wen we arrive is the local magistrate and an accountant and the Greek couple, it's a cross between a scene off an old western film and borat! The old Greek couple are so friendly they show us how they talk to their birds and get the family album out then offer to cook us some tea! Result a nice home cooked meal after roughing it, we have a couple of drinks and a bit of greek dancing and call it a night! Wat great hospitality! They then make us a Greek style full brekky in the morning without us even asking for one!............. Then they slap us with a $150 bill!!!! We have just had our pants pulled right down! We are officially the worst travellers ever! But it was a really nice evening so we build a bridge and get over it! Off to Melbourne because it's good Friday and Circo Loco - yeah boi!!!
