Today one of allahs seven brothers drove me and a finnish girl Nina around the west bank (we live on the east bank) to see the valley of the kings, the colossi of Memnon (2 18m high statues, built by Amenhotep III, of what the Greeks believed were Memnon who was slain by Achilles in the Trojan war) and tried to see Hatshpsut but it closed early.
I then went to Luxor temple which is connected to karnak by a road of sphinxes. The Romans decided to destroy some of it and then make it their own with their own murals and columns. The Arabs also built a mosque on the site in C13. Also, a crafty family stole E£40 from me on the street and when I finally got it back they asked for 'bakshish' (a tip) for returning it! When I left the kids started fighting each other.
