To call Kamloops a sleepy town would be an understatement :-) lol....We arrived at about 7pm and after about 12 hrs on a train we decided, much to the distress of the reps, to take the short walk to the hotel. We could see the hotel from the train!!
I think we saw about 2 people on the walk to the hotel. Not much going on :-).
After checking in to the hotel we went for a scout about, but most of the locals must be in bed by 9am, so we headed to the hotel bar :-).
Meeting a few fellow brits we settled in for a chat with a nice cold Bud before getting an early night (so grown up ;-) ! lol!)
The stay in Hotel 540 was lovely and the next morning we decided the next morning we would stretch our legs again and walk back to the station. After a long explanation to the hotel receptionist (people obviously don't walk much around there!!), we headed for the train. We were slightly early to board the train so had time to explore the local park, with beautiful views across the lake and the rockies in the background. Canada is beautiful!
Once again we boarded the train and were presented with an amazing 3 course breakfast whilst our journey across Canada recommenced.
During the second half of our Rockys tour it was amazing to see how much the landscape changed. From Snow peaked mountains to almost desert terrain. Seeing more wildlife too with more bears and eagles.
The team looking after us on the train were fantastic, keeping us entertained with narrative about the history of the Rockys and points of attraction along the way. Also keeping us topped up with any drink you could ask for!
Our final Rockys call was in to Vancouver, after a bit of a delay on the train (waiting for Freight trains to pass) and more food :-). Included was a transfer to our hotel (Sutton Place) to bed down for the night!
