So sadly we had only 2 days in Malaysia whilst we were driving from Thailand down to Indonesia but managed to pack quite a bit in. We began in Penang which is an island off the mainland, mostly a UNESCO heritage site. After arriving there at 3pm myself and Sara decided we wanted to see what the city was really like and headed as typical tourists do in the total opposite direction to where we wanted to go....after a 45 minute walk we asked a hotel where the place was and they laughed telling us it was the other side of town!! This set the tone for the rest of the afternoon! We finally arrived at the first destination, a traditional Malaysian house dated back to the early 1900's. It was beautiful in there and had all original features along with a tiger skin rug with the head still attached...lovely! The man who had just bought the place was inside, purchased it for $6 million...tried my luck as mum would be proud of me getting with a weathly man to get me out of her hair but no such luck! Shame you'll just have to have me back!
Next we walked around Little India (could barely look at the food after our India experience!), a few temples, the pier and then decided upon the Toy Museum which is the largest in south east Asia. So we got on a bus which took us over an hour and got there what we thought would be half an hour before closing time. Little did we know it had closed and our disappointment was emmense!!!! The amount of time it took us to get there was agggeees and there was even a Leonardo from teenage mutant hero turtles statue in the picture (I think that was the main reason we wanted to visit). But along the way we met a crazy 85 year old Dutch man who tried flirting with us, a one armed taxi driver and went to a cool Irish bar called shenanigans.....we called shenanigans where ever we went as nobody seemed to know about the place (Kinda had to be there ha ha) and looked like fools - not much new there then eh!
After a fun filled afternoon off we trotted to bed, to get up early the next morning for a 4 hour stop in Kuala Lumpar and the Petronas Twin Towers. They were pretty impressive and we had a shop around inside as there are like 500 shops, just couldnt resist! It was a shame we couldnt have stayed the night in Kuala Lumpar but had to drive down to Melaka where we got the boat over to Indonesia the next morning. What adventures will Indonesia bring....apparantly some of the worst hotels on the trip YAY WHAT FUN!!!!!
