With Emily safely discharged from the hospital we jumped on a bus to the port to begin the epic trip to Kuala Lumpur (KL) the old fashioned way by sea and by land. Four buses and one boat later we arrived in KL at 1:00am and wearily made our way to the closest Guest House. Martin weighed down by a double load was happy to grab anything that even remotely resembled a room for the night and thats what we found. With a few hours kip we took to the streets again Emily leading and Martin portering in search of more favourable accommodation and surroundings, landing ourselves at Phoenix Guest House in a more happening part of town.
With tourism in mind we headed by foot to the world famous Petronas Towers, denied access to the viewing platform due to the over subscription we took to the streets again and counted ourselves lucky to find the KL Tower. Perched on a ridge towering over the city the views were exception from the top, higher than the Pentronas Towers and with a classic 360 view we absorbed the shear enormity and expanse of the sprawling city. It was a quirky place that also offered amongst other things, donkey rides, parrot photos and a 3D cinema experience. The rest of the evening was spent strolling through the other interesting districts of KL including China Town and the Central Market. Exhausted from our travels we sat down for a very Kuala Lumparian Mexican feast and watched the expats cunudle with the locals as well as the african ladies of the night. Having earned a lie in we crept out of bed a little later than expected and sat ourselves down to a mountainous good old fashioned pie and mash. This was a neat little ending to a brief swan song in crazy KL, so long and adieu, till next time.
