The photo accompanying this post has no relevance to the below, however, it does show one of my favorite places this trip - Tunnel Creek.
This morning we said goodbye to Uncle Ron who headed off on his own as he needs to head for home and a single vehicle travelling is somewhat quicker than one that is towing.... I must admit I did shed a couple of tears, and although I know that he will be fine travelling on his own, I, as have the rest of the family, really enjoyed his company as we toured the west coast and hate the idea of anyone travelling on their own. All this being said, I have spoken with him tonight and he assures me he is fine and enjoyed his lunch of leftover roast pork in sandwhiches from last nights belated roast pork b'day dinner - cooked by Anth on the Weber Q.
We left Esperance this morning and headed back up to Norseman where the boys, Anth & I ducked out across Lake Cowan a salt lake and had a look at the Gemstone fields where we all had a little fossick and the boys found a couple of wonderful souveniers of Agate in a variety of colours....
From Norseman we headed off to the Nullabor! So far, it's not quite what I'd expected, although from Ballodonia to Caiguna it has started to resemble what I had depicted with the trees and vegetation starting to drop off.
The rain continues to follow us and despite having been told that it seldom rains on the Nullabor, I think we've seen a different side having experienced a fair bit today. Since pulling up in Caiguna, not much more than a roadhouse with a sort of caravan park complete with an landing strip for planes, we haven't had a drop.
We saw the most amazing rainbow today whilst travelling along the 'longest straight stretch of road in Australia' 90 miles long, so that certainly helped to break the monotony up a bit... although the signs advised to keep watch for Camels, Kangaroos and Emus, so far we have only sighted a couple of Kangaroos in the distance.
Now, without further adieu, please see below the updated responses to THE questions!!!...
FYI - not sure entirely how we will get an accurate tally for $$$ Spent and litres of fuel used as we stopped keeping track a while ago once we realised all would be good, however, I'm fairly sure we will be able to do a reasonable estimate.
Before leaving, I asked the kids and Anthony a number of questions and have revised these a little to be more relevant to where things are at now.
Whilst we sat enjoying dinner a couple of nights ago, I re visited THE questions to see if anything had changed.... here are the updated responses from all of us...
