Cordoba... the place where I kissed a nun. She kissed me first.
The second largest city in Argentina, and close to the Sierra Nevadas, Cordoba is a big university city with stunning examples of gothic and modern architecture, plus its the birthplace of revolutionary Che Guevara.
Arriving early doors on the overnight bus from Mendoza we were very happy to be greeted by hot sunshine and blue skies. Turns out our (really nice) hostel is well and truly on the gringo trail - bumped into 5 people I know! After making friends with the English couple in the room next door (Emma and Chris from Bristol), we all headed off to explore. Wow, it was hot... really hot. After dodging a lot of doggie poo (why don't street cleaners in Argentina clear it up?) and managing to make it agross the roads safely (no mean feat) we ended up in the park. Well most things are closed on Sundays in South America, as the non-heathens are at church praying for their souls. A nice little jaunt around the park ended up with the 4 of us racing pedalos around the lake :)
Meeting up with Fiona, who I shared a dorm with in Florianopolis, today we headed off in search of scenery... On recommendation we went in search of waterfalls in Tanti, about an hour away from the city. That's where we befriended the nun... she was happy to chat away to us (in Spanish) and show us the way. Funny how even though it is clear that neither of us speak the other's language, we still continue to chat away - no matter, its amazing how much you can get across through gestures, smiles and the occasional shrug! 1 more night in Cordoba and then Scott and I head to Rosario..
