Ooops! Wedding Anniversary? Not that I forgot - it was just that I was on Perth time for that....Oh? That means I missed it yesterday? Ouch. anyway, my gift was a hassle free day on the way to Washington..... Hassle free? Ummm
Up, got packed, had breakfast. Squeezed the 7 large suitcases and countless hand luggage bags into the car. I was the only free lap. We then headed for a quick trip to Downtown Disney for some overpriced merchandise and a deviation to a mobile phone dealer to recharge a phone (Can't do it online as we have to use a Zip code for many things, which is 5 digits over here - cripples many of our cards for easy use). Dashed to the carhire dropoff at the airport, then off to checkin - to be told our flight was closed and we were too late! Ooops! A slight miscommunication meant I thought we still had 30 minutes leeway. She looked at us and said - if you're quick, I'll let you on. Mad panic, checked in, we dashed for the everlong security scanning. Lucky for us they were fully staffed and we were hassle free. Made it to the flight as they were loading the second half on....
2 hours later we touched down in Washington, DC, and watched the cabbie squeeze our luggage into his little 'van'. Barely, but did fit. 20 minute ride to our B & B right near the giant National Cathederal, and a nice welcome from the owners. Big house and we have the very large basement - bathroom, laundry, fully set up kitchen and an enormous walk in robe. Theresa and Reed reminded us of my sister and her husband (Who also have a B&B) and they gave us a great run down on how things hang together in Washington - plus some dinner tips.
We wandered down in the freezing cold (Back to thermals again) to an Indian Restaurant and had a few samplers between us, with the girls hoeing into everything (Quite unlike them). Brooke decided she loves Indian Food and wants it again - tomorrow!
On arrival home we were met with Champagne from our hosts, then nattered for a while until exhausted. Another long day, and Yvonne and I are still quite sick - thankfully the girls are still germ free.
