PROGRESS REPORT (continued - sorry, didn't mean to press enter then...)
So having made it thru China we got into Hanoi which we both really liked. I was particularly impressed with the 10p CDs. It's a crazy place with 4 million people and 2 million motorbikes - the whole thing is like a giant swarming race and the only way to cross the road, as we were told a million times, is to shut your eyes and walk slowly. From there we took a 3-day trip to Halong Bay, which is beautiful - very serene, very picturesque and most important, very cheap. Then it was down the coast by train (you just love opening the door to your sleeper carriage and seeing a screaming baby in his mother's arms on the bunk below yours) to Hoi An, which is 15 hours away unless they just swicthed the letters round on the sign. It's a nice little beachy town FILLEd with tailors catering specifically for tourists. They all have Next catelogues and you just pick what you want and they make it for you - needless to say, Jaime had a ball. Then from there we flew to Saigon yesterday. Had a very sobering day looking round the tunnels used by the Viet Cong during the war plus a visit to the war museum. Off to Cambodia tomorrow.

PROGRESS REPORT:
Just to let everyone know, we made it to Saigon despite an interesting plane journey complete with vomiting Vietnamese woman who really knew how to let EVERYBODY know she wasn't feeling too good. Since New Zealand we've flown to Hong Kong and then gone overland throghu China, which was slow progress. It took about 3 hrs to book the ticket and even longer to find a bank that wouldn't spit out my Visa card (just like the old student days...) But it was worth it - we saved a lot of cash doing it that way rather than flying plus I wouldn't have had the pleasure of a tiny Chinese boy pointing at me in the supermarket and saying, ``David Beckham.''
Your father and Lisa
Dear Jaime its me again - this time with your Dad! We've just come back from Quiz night - your Dad's favourite night of the week - he only came third this time. Your father says how about some pictures of lady boys, he also says he's getting a new computer next week - well technology finally comes to Peltham Cottage! He also says ( I feel like I'm dealing an elderly colonel here who's lost the will to communicate) that he will be able to send you lots of emails.
See you soon bye from Lisa (Your step-aunt) and Mike (Your father!!) and Dave (your father's old friend and my husband and stepfather to Lydia,) Glad we're all clear about that. (I always explain these things as I have a husband who can't remember his own name, let alone mine)

Hello you blokes
Thought I ought to do my bit and let you know how dull things are here, to make you even more smug about not being in Blighty. I was going to say that the one thing we have going for us here is that we're not reduced to eating rat meat, but I'm sure I've probably eaten enough of it in the odd, ill-advised late-night doner...
Ran for an hour and a half at Silverstone yesterday in the half marathon. Limped along for the other 30 minutes that it took me to finish it. Paula Radcliffe isn't exactly quaking in her boots. Feel dreadful today, but that's probably due to the skinful that I drank afterwards. D'oh! Timo's got some top chafing going on. Poor sore Grimo. Ran a lot quicker than I did though.
Blades got knocked out of the FA Cup yesterday by sodding Sunderland. The shame of it all. I'm sure Pa Booker will still be going on about it when they come to stay at the weekend. Hurray! Nothing exciting to report. Off to Aggs's parents place the weekend after, then to Sing along a Sound of Music the weekend after that. Woo hoo! Almost as exciting as travelling around the world... Well actually, you're not the only ones living the high life. Me and Timo are going to the Lake District for two nights at Easter. Get in.
Jim: love the photo of you and the Home and Away cast. They must have been really pleased to get a picture with you. Nice to see it supports the theory that all famous people are small (except Irene, but she doesn't count).
Anyway, I don't think it's fair to expose all the other people who read this message board to further details of my uninteresting life. Keep having a top time!
Loads of love
Booker

Dirty Rect and Jaime
How are things? So you got to Hong Kong? Well I cant tell you too much about the nightlife - as I was there to run a marathon I didnt sample it - although Singapore would be a diff story. Stayed in HK only for 4/5 days - in Kowloon. Go up Victoria Peak, some good views up there. Get the boat out to the outlying islands as well, some of them are OK. I think HK island is best for bars. If you are feeling bored you can run the marathon course - my boss just did 3.16 out there beating my time by 4 mins - really pissed off....
Otehrwise - things ok here. Sacrificed my Sunday morning lie in to play at FILTHY Herne Bay on Sunday morning - where it commenced to snow. Anyway we won the relegation battle to keep us up so it was worth it - maybe - I did sleep there and back though. Other things - I've been asked to relocate to Singapore on a permanent basis which I am not mustard to do. I'll let you know what develops there.
Anyway fcking busy so better go. Got some snaps from your wedding they are good. Take care and enjoy Asia - I might be out there soon...
