The trip back to Rome was quick on the fast train service. We were often travelling at 250 km/hr, and allowing for four stops we arrived on time in the late afternoon after a less than four hour trip. On the way we passed by Orvieto which was the cliff top village we had visited on the Kumuka bus trip. It was very relaxing walking from the Termini Station to the Hotel Maryelen - we stayed here a week ago and being close we knew where we were going. We had dinner just down the street and got to bed early-ish. The next day we walked to the Colosseum for our arranged tour. Kim (a guy from the USA who had been studying in Rome for a number of years) gave us a private tour as we were the only guests on this tour today. We thought he was just doing the Colosseum but he started off with the quite large Roman Forum and Palentino Hill, and over the course of three hours worked his way back to the Colosseum. All of it is impressive, but the size of the Colosseum is something to behold. It was a hot day but after a bite to eat we walked back to our hotel via a gelateria. Then some relaxing before thinking about organizing ourselves for the trip back home.
