Nakuru, Kenya
Hi
I thought i should add an entry as i havent used this for a while. I have been in Nakuru for almost 4 weeks now on my volunteer projects. Building houses for homeless people in the day and coaching football in the evening. Although i have also worked in a school with young children and im now doing some carpentry work at another childrens school.
Since being here, i have taken a weekend away to Masai Mara Game Reserve to go on safari. Been to nearby Lake Nakuru, another national park and also to Lake Naivasha and Hells Gate National Park where I actually cycled through amongst the zebras, giraffes, buffalo's etc.
I have also played football in the local stadium here. I captained 'The World F.C.' team made up primarily of other volunteers here plus a few players from Kenya, Uganda and Algeria. The volunteers came from places such as England, Australia, USA and Ireland. We played against the team i coach, called 'The Walk United'. It was a great game and we eventually won 3-1 after extra time. Such a good day though and i got to lift the trophy in the stand.
I also played there again a few days ago. This time for The Walk against a local womens team! The weather was horrendous and the rain lashed down for about an hour and the pitch was pretty water logged. We son 3-0.
Have also played for The Walk again today against another school called Filadelphia. The pitch was rock hard. I played half a game. We lost 3-0.
These are the main highlights from here so far. I have a little more time here before i move on though.
