The next destination was the funky seaside town of Noosa. When we had visited Australia a few years ago this was as far north as we came and we both loved this place and were keen to see if anything had changed. Noosa has the reputation as being the upper class holiday destination and with its multi million pound houses, boutique shops and fancy pants restaurants its easy to see the attraction. On arrival it was clear that very little had changed with the same restaurants taking up the prime spots and many of the shops were also still there. Unfortunately the only thing missing when we arrived in Noosa was the sun and whilst it was the usual muggy 28° there was no sun in sight so rather than heading to the beach we decided to take a walk along the main high street to see how much we could remember. The shopping in Noosa is fantastic there are loads of amazing shops selling really original things and had I just been here on holiday I could easily spend a fortune in this small town however restraint had to be shown. Due to the amount of action Michaels wallet has seen over the last 8 months it was hardly surprising that the thing had finally fallen apart so after shopping around we got a suitable replacement that seems up to the job. After our walk down memory lane we bought a fruit smoothie and headed towards the beach. There was a sand castle competition taking place and some of the competitors were there creating their masterpieces and when you see the photos of what they had created you cant help but be impressed! There was even a fire breathing dragon made completely from sand! A good half hour was spent just watching these patient masters create the most amazing sand sculptures and with the threat of rain looming ahead they were up against the clock to get finished and get their photographs taken for the judging! After spending the afternoon around the town it was time to head first to the supermarket for supplies and then to the only campsite in Noosa. The campsite was in the prettiest spot right down by the water and if you ignore the gross and grumpy duo manning the reception it was a great place to spend a few days and hopefully catch some rays! The next five days saw a complete change in weather and with beautiful sunshine and temperatures in the thirties there was nothing else to do but tan, tan, tan!!! With all our adventures of the previous week it was great to just have a few days relaxing on the beach although our first day got off to a bit of a hairy start when suddenly the lifeguards starting waving us all out of the water as there had been a confirmed shark sighting near the beach. It was honestly like the scene from the Jaws film when the chief Brody comes running down to the beach yelling and everyone panics and has to get out the water before the shark comes to eat the wee boy! I have never seen the ocean cleared so quickly as we are all trying to swim for the shore at the same time it was hilarious as Michael is trying to drag me to get us to the beach as quickly as possible! We had to melt on the sand with nowhere to cool down for about an hour until the shark had moved on to terrorise another beach but as expected everyone was a little reluctant to get back in the water and it was up to Mike, me and a few other brave, overheating individuals to lead the way. So that was the most exciting thing to happen while we were in Noosa the rest of the time was spent reading, relaxing and tanning!
