On 1st April, we did a boat trip to Halong Bay which was for an overnight stay on board, meals included. The boat was lovely and very calm so luckily I didn't spew! The food was all seafood and was delicious, as usually I'd choose a dish that I'm familiar with and not squid and crab! There were 6 rooms of people so there was a nice number on the boat with us, and majority of them young and fun which is always a bonus. We went Kayaking, went into the ancient Halong cave, which means dragon cave. There were loads of steps but we managed to get some lovely scenic photos! In the evening, there was karaoke (which of course we joined in with) and big bottles of vodka for 7 quid... It was messy, but very funny and everyone got along really well. There were people from France, Germany, Australia & Switzerland so a great mixture. James thought he'd put it upon himself to tell them all why England is better than their country, in the classic Bray fashion. There was a bit of drama between 2 friends when one thought it would be funny to push the other one off the boat as he was peeing overboard, but he came back and threw a glass in the other ones face and it chipped his tooth! They kissed and made up and laughed about it the next day. Once we returned back to the hotel in Hanoi, we got picked up by a bus which took us to the bus station for us to get on the sleeper bus to Hue. This was a 14 hour journey, but the seats reclined and were comfortable, so it made a strangely pleasant journey. There was one Jap that was a ridiculously loud snorer which we hope to never see again - he was about 1/2 meter from James' ear, I can't believe the man is still alive! We are in the Backpacker Hostel in Hue, we're staying here for one day then hopping back on the bus tomorrow for a 5 hour journey down south to Hoian which will have beautiful beaches and more activities.
