Ella, Gina and Sallys Travelling Diary!!
hi everyone!...sorry to those of you that say they haven't heard from us for so long! and an even bigger apology to those who say our entries are too long..you may as well log off now as this is gonna be a big one!
so the last month has been a lot of fun and also very eventful!
We left bangkok at the beginning of May to head to KOh Samui we gotta train down to surrathani and then a boat to koh samui where we stayed in choeng mon beach which was where we stayed in our first bungalow which was very nice and the beach was quieter than the touristy area which was really nice! the night life was fun to begin with but we got a bit annoyed of 'holiday makers' rather than travellers (like us!) who liked to kick off fights with eachother in burger king after a few too many beers! we were happy to leave and very excited about koh phagnan (kp).
on a sunny day we left ks for kp and had an hour walking round trying to find a nice place to stay cos it was really busy due to the pending full moon party! We struck lucky...well we thought...when we found a lovely bungalow right on haad rin beach....the home fo the full moon party!....the whole stay was a bit of a blur due to the high alcoholic content of the very cheap buckets! the night life was really goosd the only thing that spoiled it was not having all our friends there partying with us! the music ranged from drum n bass to hip hop to house...a little bit of everything was enjoyed by all on the beach till sun rise! the nights leading up to the full moon were muchos fun and the days were spent sun bathing and watching so amny films in the bars and A LOT of friends! most nights ended with a very scrumptious chicken shnitzel from chicken corner where we did manage to become regulars!
we met one of sally's friends from college, James, we bumped into him in a bar and he didnt leave us until KL!! he did come in handy when our not so lovely bunalow got broken into twice and we were sure we had ghosts at one point! Not so handy however when he pretended to be the ghost!
We made a hasbit of getting lost on the island on the way home after a long night out and even in the day time trying to find the shop!
on one occasion we ended up in the mountains...we thought we had found our bungalow but instead it was a bar..so we bought some water and asked for directions..by the time we had exchanged money for the water and walked towards the door we had completely forgotten the directions and the man obviously thought it would be quicker to drive us the 2 mins down the road on his fruit and veg motorbike/trailer! we were very thankful promised him we would eat their the next day but never did!..it would have been impossible to find it again!
Perhaps that was the same night that ella slammed the fone down on sallys lip! we dont know how her head was by the phone but we found it very funny in the morning when she had a busted lip!
THe full moon party night was really funthe beach suddenly became packed with thousnads of people who were glowing from iluminous paint! We didnt want to be left out and james being quite keen on his graffiti painted us so we were glowing for the next week!!(it didnt wash off)
So we left kp revitalised (....or not) and caught a boat back to surat thani so we could make our way into malaysia and to the perhenthian islands that were on the east coast. We bought a ticket that would take us more or less all the way there....but when we got to the bus station we were informed that going that way....."you will die"! Apparently theres troubles down south of thailand with terrorism and stuff like that and we were told that if we were seen down there we would be killed straight off!...........nice!?!?!?!!?
The women who told us this then decided she would not give us any money back and make us pay another extortionate price to go to the west coast of malaysia and then travel the whole way across. After a heated arguement....which involved ella screwing up our ticket and throwing it at the womens face and sally and gina shouting verbal abuse!....but we were stull quite polite of course mummy!
In the end we got chucked out the office and given 5 mins to decide between life and death.......money or no money! So in the end.....we had no choice but to pay the extra money and go on a massive detour around malaysia!!!!
If only things were that simple.......we arrived in Butterworth....where we were going to have to stay over night! Turns out...its one of the most disturbing places we have stayed. We found a budget (and when we say budget...we mean budget...sally decided they should have payed us to stay there!). Turns out......we could have made some money there coz we later found out we were living in a brothel......yes.....a brothel!!!
I wont go into details of how we worked this out but the phone numbers written all over the walls....the interesting sounds of the night.......and the ladyboy (in underwear....and only underwear) who approached Gina alone in her room for a nice friendly chat........what else she was after...luckily we'll never know! We made a sharp exit straight away!
So we caught a bus to Kuala Besut where we caught the last boat of the day to the Perhenthians....lucky us!!!!
Maybe....not so lucky. We saw a storm brewing miles behind us and never thought for one minute it would get anywhere near us....However.....about 15 minutes laters we were all shut inside the tiny cabin of the tiny boat because the storm was coming.......and it turns out....it wasn't just any storm......it was a TYPHOON in the South CHina Sea!!!!! NOT FUN>
There was about 7 forks of lightning every 30 seconds...and there was no space between the lightning and the thunder so we were all so scared. The waves were humungous....and one minute out the window you would see the sea...the next the sky. We were all terrified! 45 minute journey took 3 and half hours coz in the end...the driver turned off the engine and we had to just ride out the waves. Gina found that a way not be scared was to sing.......felt sorry for everyone else on the boat! Gina started singing "things can only get better" and as she finished the song a wave came crashing into the boat and water came pouring through the windows and door. So she was promptly instructed to shut up by the other passengers....who we formed a bond with by this time!
We finally made it to the perhenthians but we wanted to stay on the small island but the waves were too big to get into shore so we had to stay on the bigger island for one night. We moved the next day and found a lovely, quiet beach to stay on called COral Bay! Lovely bungalows yet again!
Our time on the island was very enjoyable adn relaxing even though arsenal were robbed of the champions league final! to get to the main beach we had to do a 15 min walk through a jungle that held many big creatures such as lizards that looked like dinosaurs! was very fun although quite scary in the dark with only our torch lighting the way!
we spent one of the days goin snorkelling which was very fun we swam with sharks, turtles and many fish!! was very exciting and the water was so clear!
our last night on the island started off as a relaxing one and we were just ready for bed when we saw a nice little bonfire..or so we thought within seconds a whole house exploded and was on fire! we wernt sure what the procedure was when things like this happened......and we later found out there was no procedure coz they had no rescue service on the island! Everyone was panicking coz the whole islands consists of wooden bungalows and trees so everyone on the whole beach made a chain of people from the sea to the fire and we were passing buckets of water up to put out the fire!!!! was a good workout for us all! After a few hours of hard work the fire was more or less out sowe returned to our rooms for a good nights sleep!
WE left the next day and caught a boat and then the jungle train to Kuala Lumpar! WE stayed in a windowless box (so we slept for hours) in the middle of bustling CHinatown! We ended up doing quite a bit of shopping coz the market there was amazing! so much to buy and all so cheap!
James left us at the bus station which we were all upset about especially gina as they had grown quite close over the last few weeks!
we liked kl and vistied a tall tower and lots fo fast food restaurnats!
we are now in singas which is really nice and as you can tell we all a bit bored of writing this and im sure you must be even more bored so maybe we will tell more about that later!
we can actually say see you soon now...as we will..but not before a very exciting (we hope) trip down under!
