Day 237, 238 - Cusco, Peru - Saturday 9th, Sunday 10th June 2012
Our two days back in Cusco were mainly spent recovering from our trek - basically sleeping lots, eating lots, getting all of our washing done, catching up with friends and family on Skype and generally chilling out. On the Saturday daytime, with the trek still fresh in our minds and our legs aching we decided to take advantage of one of the (regularly offered and cheap) massages - what an experience! We were taken to a tiny room about four levels up and were told to take our clothes off whilst the lady went to find her friend so we could both be massaged at the same time. The other lady turned up and they started the massages accompanied by a very interesting soundtrack that included the acoustic versions of "my heart will go on" and the winter Olympics theme tune! Halfway through I could hear Ad moaning and groaning and looked over only to see the lady straddling his head whilst massaging his back - it was hard work trying to force back the giggles! After an hour of being massaged with both hands and hot stones my lady whispered in my ear "finished lady, you like?!" It was a good but a surreal experience but who's complaining for an hour massage for the grand total of £6! We also treated ourselves to a posh dinner on the Saturday night; the restaurant was called El Ciccolona and the food was amazing. We had a bottle of Malbec to drink, Ad ate beef (superbly done) and I had a mixture of different Peruvian tapas dishes. The highlight though was the pudding - a chocolate brownie dipped in whisky with a white chocolate mousse and mint jellies! Given that it was one of the best restaurants in Cusco we were expecting to pay through the nose and so were pleasantly surprised when our bill for £45 turned up! We love Peru!
