Day 5: Moama to Ballarat
Well today we were packed and on the road by 9.30am where we made a bee-line for Ballarat. We arrived at Big4 Ballarat Goldfields Holiday Park by 1pm. Darren and I enjoyed the scenery on the way down, after being in such flat country it was different to see undulating countryside again. The kids however did not share our enthusiasm! They did celebrate our entry into Victoria, this is the first time any of them have been in the state so they thought it was pretty exciting. We didn't realise how disappointed they were that we chose to stay on the NSW side of the Murray last night.
After we checked in and had lunch we decided to visit "the tangled maze". It was the best thing we could have done. The maze only takes about 45mins to navigate and they give you a little bit of a quiz in which you have to search for the answers in the maze to complete. The kids thought it was fantastic and I can't deny that Darren and I enjoyed it too. After completing the quiz correctly we got a lolly snake each. Yep, life's good!
We have made the kids have an early night tonight, partly because we are spending the day at Sovereign Hill tomorrow and partly because I'm exhausted and need an early night also. Dazza wanted them in bed so he can watch the state of origin in peace!
The temperature tonight is expected to drop to about 3 degrees so we just may be keeping the heater on all night, which I must thank Pete and Jo for recommending the dyson, it has been a god send.
Meant to be scattered showers tomorrow but it will not deter us, there's gold in dem hills!

Pete and jo You're going to love Sovereign Hill, especially if it's a good day. Not sure how much fun it'll be if it rains, so hopefully it won't... Don't miss the gold smelting... We're in Tweed Heads, and we've still got R2-DYSON going all night, so I can imagine how much youll need it in ballarat, let alone Halls Gap... Geez, that'll be cold. They're good little units though... Have fun, and don't forget to wave...
