Nadeane & Dean's Trip
Hi everyone!
Wow... have we ever had the best time here in Canada. We were staying with Lori & Rick White - the two best hosts we could imagine. We felt so welcome in their home, it was like we weren\'t even travelling. We got to meet all their friends, who were equally as nice and fun, and even got to ride on the back of Rick\'s Harley! They took us out to Nelson and the Ainsworth hot springs which was great... we went out hiking with Rick a few times as well, he told us all about the bears and cougars that were lurking as we were hiking... Dean kept looking over his shoulder, just in case!! Too funny! They invited us to all their parties and we had an absolute blast. They should be coming to Australia in Feb next year, so hopefully we can go some way to repaying the favour!!
We had a fantastic stay in Cranbrook, the people we met were amazing and that famous canadian hospitality was everywhere. We met up with my dad\'s cousin, Linda and her family, on the way through to Kelowna, they were sure to send us on our way with a full packed lunch and an open invitation to return anytime, as well as taking us on a tour of their town and local area... just amazing people!
Then it happened that friend Kristen, that I used to go to school with in Grade 5 was working at the Adamants Lodge, which is about 6 hours north of Cranbrook, where they do heli-skiing. She invited us to come up and stay for two nights, which we gratefully accepted! Unfortunately on the way up the logging road to the lodge, we hit a huge ditch and smashed up the bottom of our rental car. We didnt realise until arriving at the lodge that we were leaking radiator fliud everywhere. Luckily one of the kitchen staff at the lodge is also an amatuer mechanic and managed to seal the leak for us.... Lucky!!! because our insurance doesn\'t cover us for use on a logging road... Ooops!
The lodge was amazing. Dean and I didnt know what to expect, but were blown away by the place. The guests there pay $10,000 for a week... and we got to stay there for free!! The food was absolutely amazing, but the best part was, the helicopter that was taking lunches out to the heli-skiiers had two free seats, so we got to take the chopper out to the Austerity Glacier and have lunch on a glacier in the rocky mountains... It was just amazing. We had to keep pinching ourselves to make sure that it was real!!
We helped out in the kitchen and got to party with the guests and staf at night, It was truly amazing fun. We really want to thank Kristen so much for organising that for us... it was a once in a lifetime experience we won\'t forget in a hurry!
We are in Canmore tonight, on our way to calgary to stay one more night with Rob and Glenna, another pair of amazing welcoming hosts... what is it with these Canadians... we never want to leave!!!
But alas we are off to New York for 4 nights to do some sightseeing then off the London to start work... Boohoo! We have a couple of interviews lined up already and there seems to be a ot of work out there so fingers crossed we get paid a ridiculous amount of money to do very little!!!!
We will definitely be back to Canada, ther people here are so nice and we really feel at home here... but don\'t worry ... we are coming back... I promise!!!
Speak to you all later!
