Ladies and gentleman its journal time. We're still in Airlie Beach and it is HOT. Its also very humid so we are spending most of our time dripping with sweat, attractive.
We've just got back from our sailing adventure around the Whitsunday Islands and it was fabtastic. We were given a fairly bleak weather forecast and the promise of a tropical cyclone but neither materialised and instead we had 3 days of blazing sunshine. Our boat 'The Atlantic Clipper' was perfect and came equipped with the all important jacuzzi. The first day of the trip was spent cruising around the islands and getting to know the rest of the people on board. We spent the evening having a few drinks whilst watching a shoal of squid that stayed near the boat all night. The captain even caught a few of them and cooked them up for us, freshest calamari we've ever had...still tasted like rubber though.
The next day was fantastic, Gem and I scuba dived!!! Its such a strange sensation but we loved it. The sights underwater were amazing. The coral reef was the strangest thing I've ever seen. After the scuba diving we did a spot of snorkelling which was equally brilliant and I'm happy to report that we found Nemo. It was the best snorkelling we've experienced so far on this trip and there were millions and millions of the most colourful fish imaginable. Loved it!!! The rest of the day was a combination of eating, drinking and jumping off the diving board on the boat. Not a bad way to spend a day. The evening was spent in the jacuzzi watching the sunset. Later in the night a family of dolphins came and played by the side of the boat as well as loads of baby sharks and some squid, what a sight!!!!
The trip was perfect and we didn't want it to end but we're back on dry land now for another hard days sunbathing before we fly down to Brisbane tomorrow. Can't believe we're leaving Australia in a few days.
Hope everyones well xxxx
