Hiya everybody. We've had such a good week. Definitely think this has been Gems best week of the trip so far. The Melbourne v Sydney match was awful, it finished 0-0 and at times it was like watching Tranmere!! Great stadium though!! Other than that we had a fairly quiet weekend, Gem worked and I read books, went to the outdoor pool and had a few beers. Monday night was a very different story though, we had got ourselves tickets for the Neighbours trivia night which according to the flyer would be our best night in Australia!!! Having arrived at the venue at 7ish we were told that the 'stars' wouldn't be arriving until 9! That left us with 2 hours to fill. Needless to say by the time Toadie, Steph and Stu arrived the majority of people there were a little worse for wear. There were about 200 people in the crowd, every one of them British chanting Toadies name, what a moving experience for Phil!! By the way before they arrived there were old Neighbours episodes being shown on a big screen, despite there being no sound Gemma still ended up crying when it showed Madge dieing, hahahaha!
Once the stars were out and had gone through a heavily scripted routine they split up and came round to the tables to have their photo taken with us, they must have heard I was in town. Steph is beautiful, Toadie was a bit of a legend and Stu was an arrogant idiot face. The trivia night itself was a waste of time but nobody seemed to mind and everyone had a fantastic time. No idea what time we got home but we didn't feel to clever on Tuesday morning.
Yep Gem here now!!! So Tuesday morning I wasn't feeling too grand especially because I had to get up at 7.30am to go on the Neighbours tour. Phil decided not to come but luckily I was so excited I forgot how I was feeling!!!Our coach woman was a walking, talking neighbours freak i asked her soo many questions, everything you can imagine I asked. I think I may have slightly annoyed her! Heck who cares i was on "the Neighbours Tour". On the bus they put all the classic episodes on which got me well in the mood, they first of all took us to Erinsborough High! Erinsborough isn't really a place its ananagram of the word Neighbours (i was the only one on the coach who knew that!). The school is really a Linguistics school, and all the scenes are filmed there including the sky - lana kiss ooohhh!! To make it really look like the school the pulled out the sign and hooked it on the fence (how classy), the woman was saying we could have our photos taken I had a feeling people were feeling a little shy so I jumped straight in to have my picture taken!!!
Then it was off to the street, we drove past the studios where the coffee shop & Scarlett bar are but they were filming so we weren't allowed in!!! Nevermind nothing was spoiling my day!!
So we arrived at this street i had to look twice to believe it really was Ramsay street partly because it was called Pine Oak Court and because it was a little smaller than I had imagined!! We got off the bus and walked round all the houses which look just the same i felt like dancing in the street !!! Then our guide pulled out the SIGN wow i was straight in there to hold it and have my picture with it!!! After the street they drove us down to St Kilda where in a random car park Dylan Timmons was just waiting to see us, random but i did not care! we chatted took photos and asked him some embarrassing questions he was very funny and relaxed I liked him alot! I got back from the tour about midday and thats when last nights excitement caught up with me and I began to feel dreadful!
If I thought Monday and Tuesday was good then Wednesday was absolutely "Fabulous", I walked for ages round city to look for tickets for the Australian Open, however on arriving i just thought i would ask if there were any tickets to see Kylie that night knowing that there wouldn't because Melbourne is her home town and this concert had been postponed since '05! She said there was a ticket up in the gods i didn't really fancy that and then she said she had one on Row C of the Floor!! oh yep that would be 3 rows from the front of a Kylie concert that night!!! Needless to say that my decision was made for me, I skipped and bounced around until 8.00pm when it was scheduled to start!!!
As soon as the concert started there was a surge to the front, I was up jumping over chairs to get the best spot right at the front!!!!!! The concert was the most fantastic show I have ever seen Kylie was radiant with the most glamorous costumes I have ever seen, I am now a die hard Kylie Fan, and anyone who has tickets for her tour will not be disappointed (you will not believe the locomotion or how camp it is!!!)
Hello Phil again. If like me you have no interest in Neighbours or Kylie then I'm sorry about this journal. Also for those of you that have been sending me messages telling me that I keep spending money while Gemmas working then get a load of this. Last night while Gem spent an obscene amount of money going to see Kylie, I was slaving away behind a bar earning a precious few dollars to keep our heads above water.
Must dash as we're both in work in an hour. Speak to u soon xxxxxxx
