The Wandering Beals
We get really good food delivered to our door. We get to go outside 2 times a day, so about 2 hours each day. We are near the airport and 5 stories tall, so we can see the planes coming and going. Sometimes, we see US Air Force Antarctic Project jets getting fueled up. I always sneeze every time I have a covid test. By the way we have to have 3 covid tests in our hotel. Our hotel's name is Novotel. It is fancy and Ruby and I even have our room with a tv and reading lights! Here is a picture of me learning to tie knots. My Aunt Holly and Uncle Grayson sent the kit in a package with candy.

Aunt Suzan Silas, this is fun for your Alaskan family to read. Today it is 12 degrees here and the wind is blowing hard. The sun is shining but it's still very cold. We are looking forward to reading all about your adventures.
Aunt Cathy Yes, this is fun to see and read! What an adventure! You and Ruby sure are good at making things fun! I am glad we got to “see” you before you left, even if from a distance and for a short time. You are VERY lucky to be able to take this trip. Have a great time!
Erin Those Corona virus tests are NOT fun, but so cool that you & Ruby get your own room with reading lights AND a TV! Faaaancyyyyy! Are the planes for Antarctica the same size as the ones you came in on? Are there other kids from the US in quarantine? I wish I could be on that trip with you guys! I was in Christchurch for a couple days 15 years ago when I traveled around New Zealand WWOOFing for a few months (ask your mom about WOOFing). The same trip where I met Tim for the first time (while he was living in Wellington)!
Koro Geoff Aunty Holly had a great idea sending you a knotting book, Silas. I love making knots, and have a book of my own about knots. I thought you might like to check this link about the Antarctic, and how Christchurch is the main gateway to the continent. I also talks about the USA aircraft which service McMurdo Sound for the USA and New Zealand Antarctic bases. Here's the link: https://www.christchurchairport.co.nz/about-us/who-we-are/gateway-to-antarctica/
JanelleRalph I’m Glad there are some pretty cool things about your isolation time! Keep enjoying everything!
