The travels of Karyn and Robert
After many ANZAC dawn services attended it was my time to rise before dawn in Turkey to view the Dardanelles . We entered the Dardanelle Straight at 5:30 am, I was up at the Crows Nest with 5 others watching land come into view. Robert was snoring peacefully. As the Dardanelles came into view I went down to deck 10 for a better photo spot. On the horizon was a monument, then a short time later the town of Burhanli, which has an old fort and a monument to WWI on the side of its hill. Robert still snoring. Without 'Tom' our guide up to do the commentary (he was late - probably slept in) I thought it was Gallipoli. Sun rose, I was up, photos taken, Robert still snoring. Back in our room eating breakfast at our window, watching the Dardanelles glide by, Robert is now awake, an unimpressive town comes into view, Tom's comes online via the ship's TV we are now passing the town of Gallipoli. Robert exits to take the photo, I have been up for 3 hours, now it is my time to rest. The rest of the day is cruising to Istanbul. Lunch is with the Captain and the 'Mariner Society'. When we dock we plan to wander the dock area and walk into town. It is an overnight stay, tomorrow we have a tour booked, if it as good as PK Travel who we booked in Athens we should have a good day. CIao, Yassou and in Turkish ... yet to learn.
