This afternoon we were going to the Mundaring Weir. This was a dam build to transport water to the goldfields in the eastern part of Western Australia.. On average, ninety million litres of water are pumped through Western Australia's 'Golden Pipeline' each day, in an engineering feat that has continued uninterrupted since 1903. The start of the water's 560km journey is the impressive Mundaring Weir, set in a natural bush setting. The dam is under construction, so we were not allowed to walk over it.
We had a picknick behind the dam. As soon as we sat down, the birds came to join us. Like the kookubarru (yesterday we saw him in captivity) and some parakeets. Hidde and Lars liked to feed them. On our way back we took the zigzag route. We've spent the evening with Geoff, Peta and Aleesha, Chloe and Bridget. It was a fun day with a pleasant family ending.
