After our awesome last day at Coffs Harbour with Dolphins we went to bed early as we had to get up at 3am shower finish packing the last few bits load the car and Brian drove us the 2 hours to the Gold Coast to catch are flight at 6.10am. With the hours difference and no traffic a relative easy run considering the time we arrived at the airport at 4.45am we said are farewells and thanks for having us and hurried away as the eyes welled up. (Woombah and Deb & Brian have One magical place fantastic people who have really lived)
We checked in really easy went through the normal checks and boarded the plane to fly to Sydney about 1.30 hours. We arrived are luggage was first of we collected it and rushed to Terminal 3 to check in for our 9.50 flight to Alice Springs we made this with plenty of time to spare so got coffees and water. Boarded the 3 hour flight to arrive in Alice Springs just after 11am Alice Springs time. Leaving the aircraft the heat hits you so dry like being in an oven, Alan was waiting to pick us up and take us to his home. After unloading the pick up we headed to Coles shopping centre in preperation for the next Two days this was an eye opener Alice Springs is like no other town I have been to hard to describe it's more of a feeling. We returned to Alan's where we met the children Kevin & Amy and the rest of the day was spent chilling.
13th-14th January Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park
Up early to load both pick ups for the drive to Ayers Rock Resort where we would stay in a cabin for the night, we did not leave as early as anticipated what a drive just up the road almost in the back garden well 4.30 hours without stopping but we took breaks at different points Finke river for One and there was a little water in it, the scenary was amazing not how I imagined it. We arrived at the resort at about 4pm checked in and we all went swimming. I booked a helicopter sunset flight over Uluru & Kata Tjuta this was for 6.40 weather permitting. As we swam we expected a call to cancel as there was lightning in the distance this never happened we finished swimming about 6 got showered and changed and Libby, Hermione and myself waited to be picked up at 6.35 at the resort reception. Adrian the pilot turned up to pick the three off us up we was all so excited when he said we was going although there was a chance of having to abort Once in the air. This was brilliant a small 4 person copter including the pilot see the pics I cannot explain how brillint this was. After returning Alan had prepared dinner bbq we all ate had a beer and walked to the club to dance and have fun. Great night was had and we did not get back till midnight. Next day was busy driving and walking we drove to both places and walked around taking photographs breath taking cannot put into words, we would of climbed it but that was closed do to idiots cutting the chain, I have a feeling the climb will be closed permanently soon. Some 35 people have died attempting this some falling and heart attacks not an easy climb I am told. After this we still had to drive home and what a drive roads flooded running water in the desert superb, we arrived back at Alans after we dropped the children of at their Mothers place.
A great Two days with great people brilliant. I was told a week in Alice was far too much but I realise now it' never going to be enough time there is so much to see and do. Pictures will appear shortly I will probably do several folders.
