The town of Ha Tien, gateway to Phu Quoc island is about an 8 hour road journey from HCMC, and one that we chose to do in the day instead of overnight as our desire for a proper night's sleep in a bed trumps saving on a night of hotel accommodation. But when we boarded the bus we were surprised to find that it was still a "sleeper" bus, and therefore had long reclining beds seats, pillows, and blankets! So the day journey turned into a cozy, dozy, on and off nap time experience which was actually quite pleasant. Troy determined quickly that he was too tall to fit properly in his seat to much amusement of Clare and others, but managed to make do by keeping his knees bent while reclining looking like a proper giant. All bus interactions were in Vietnamese, but a kind young man kept us updated on all the instructions by translating for us every time we looked confused. No one wants to be left behind at a rest stop in the middle of nowhere, do they?! When we made it to Ha Tien town, we had time for dinner and then bed, in preparation for an early morning boat departure for Phu Quoc.

Caitlin You can tell you spent an extended time in England "looking like a proper giant"! Lol!
Clare Hansen Ha ha, I never thought about that!
Carrie To the Vietnamese, I’m sure he is a proper giant!! Lol
Clare Hansen Yeah he is always towering over everyone! Even I feel tall here, so Carrie, you must have also felt like a "proper giant" when you came over here!
