Kuala Lumpur is a huge hub for southeast Asia flights, and so on our third time transiting through this city we finally decided to stop in and see the city for a couple of days.
Our overall impressions of KL: very clean, good transport, pretty, shiny malls, tons of good food options. It feels like one of the more diverse, international capital cities we have been to in Asia. The famous Petronas Towers look fantastic lit up at night, and the surrounding park area is a great, buzzy gathering space for tourists and locals to relax and have a bite to eat. We had planned on visiting a "cat cafe" but instead ended up at a "dog cafe" where we spent time with the resident beagle and other guests' pups. We chatted with the friendly locals who were very intrigued at how 3 Canadian tourists end up in the KL suburbs to visit a local cafe, and we tried to explain how this super fun concept of animal cafes is not so much a thing where we live. And with that, we completed our brief time in the country of Malaysia before heading back out to Indonesia; this time, to the island of Java.
