A quick little beach stop for a night in Nha Trang was the best way we could think to break up the 20 hour trip onwards to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City).
We opted to do night sleeper buses either side to keep it cheap and had some simple but nice enough A/C accommodation in the beach town. Arriving in the morning, we opted to pretty much dump bags and go straight to the sand. Of course, within an hour of forking out for sun loungers, the clouds came rolling across the bay and the wind and drizzle that followed almost made us think of home (had it not been 30 degrees! Sorry, don't mean to rub it in ;) ).
It cleared up a bit later and we headed back out to work on those tans. We'd been delaying gratification for the past five years to save up enough for this trip, when we get to a beach now, we are there to soak it all up! We also had our first taste of dragon fruit (see photos) which is an odd looking thing that tastes a bit like a white kiwi fruit I guess.
The next day was much the same really, we just topped it off with a night bus. Brett was determined to half a decent night's sleep so proceeded to pop a couple of herbal Nytols. After 2 hours, with no luck sleeping, another two were washed down. The second set must have kicked the first two into action because there was not much movement for the next eight hours, even after the A/C broke down and the bus was sweltering! (Stacey of course had already disowned him at the point when he decided it was ok to strap his head against the headrest using his scarf so that it didn't flap about when we turned corners. Unfortunately photos do not exisit of this shameful sight. "Special" is not the word.... "Uncle k*** Head" is a bit more like it.)
