Sam's Thai Travels
Hey everyone,
Well today was our last day of teaching - can't believe it's all over! Greg and I have had a really great two final weeks with the children. For this last week we have mainly had parties with all of the classes which has gone really well - they loved it when I brought in my IPOD and greg brought his speakers and we played musical chairs and all sorts with them. At first we weren't so sure if the younger classes understood we are leaving which was sort of sad but I think most of the kids know now because the teachers told them. Today the teachers at our school through a little leaving party for us at lunch time which was great. There was loads of food - they bought coke and sandwiches especially for us! And then we took some great pictures and they gave us both a present - a cool Koh Phangan Full Moon Party t-shirt, which we wore for our classes after! Cru Joke (the only english-speaking teacher) even said we could come back and work at the school one day! Very sweet. It was strange leaving the school for the last time, suddenly struck me that we weren't even coming back, so was very sad. I will really miss all of the children.
Tonight is my last night of staying in Chaloklam which will be weird. As tomorrow we are all off to Koh Tao for 5 days to do our open water PADI dive course which I'm really looking forward to. Then when I come back to Koh Phangan I'm staynig with my friends Dorette and Steph before I head home 5 days later. Suddenly it's all go go go!
On wednesday it was Steph's birthday so we all went to this very cool bar/restaurant in Chaloklam called Sheesha (it actually looks like something out of London!) and had a meal and got very drunk although not on cheap buckets but lovely wine (well at least me anyway!) Greg, Mike and I went in before and decorted it with balloons which looked great and we organised a cake for steph as well which was yum. It was a really great night and everyone was very drunk but the place felt like our own and the owner was great and got us to choose our own music and everything. Mike is off home tomorrow - he did a cookery course while he was here last week which he really enjoyed whic was cool and the rest of the time i think he spent mostly in his hammock! Sad to see him go but it's been a quick few weeks.
My friend Max (who i was sharing a room with in my first few weeks on my tour) came and stayed on Koh Phangan at the beginning of the week which was great. Great to see her again after she'd been travelling to India, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam! Whilst she was here we went to Bottle Beach (with mike and greg as well) which is a lovely beach that you can only get to by boat. Unfortunately the weather wassn't too great at the beginning of the week so we didn't do much else. But it is improving - thank goodness for the diving and I'm sharing a room with Max on Koh Tao - just like the old times!
Not much else to tell really - I picked up my finished black pinstripe suit and red halterneck thai silk ball dress that I was having made on Samui last weekend and both look amazing - am very pleased. Other than that I 'm really looking forward to coming home!! Can't wait to see you all but think some things will take a bit of getting used to i.e flushing toilet paper down the toilet, wearing shoes inside, using a knife and fork (instead of a fork and spoon) and everyone being able to speak english around me (to name but a few)!
Hope you are all well and that I'll be able to see you when i come home,
Lots of love,
Sam xxx
