WOW.
Watching the sunrise over the Angkor Wat Temple was one of the prettiest things I have ever seen! There was such a buzz in the air from everyone waiting in anticipation for it! It was around 5:30 when it started to rise and so for about half an hour I sat on some other important building waiting and watching..
After that, I took myself around the temple because I wasn't paying a man to take me around, just to point out carvings on a wall. I could see them myself and then save about $20 dollars at the same time! It was huge though! It felt the same as when I was in Mexico and visited chichen itza! You just kept staring at it.. Because if I was to go all Karl Pilkington on you, it's just a massive stone building but when you are actually there, well it's like you can feel an atmosphere, just in a good way!
After about 2 hours, I decided I had seen enough and if my knee wasn't broken before well it was now (yes I am exaggerating however I am rocking a limp today!). Next was the Bayon Temple in Angkor Thom. This was a pretty one! The stones were white and grey but the green was starting to take over, but there was just something about this temple that made me jaw drop a little bit! I walked through that before deciding my knee really wasn't in a good way and then carried on in the tuk tuk around the rest of the site and temples. There were so many! I'm suprised anyone had time to pray or play in the temples because they must have just constantly been building new ones! Although it's like me on 'the sims' .. Never play the people just build houses and put furniture in them! Maybe I missed my calling, interior designer?!
Anyway, totally sidetracked. Temples - amazing! I came back to the hostel and then made plans for that evening and for the rest of the trip! Well up to Australia anyway - which is only 16 days away. AHH! The rest of the britpack were a few roads away so I met them, we got some dinner, had some drinks and went shopping. I had sweet and sour chicken IN A PINEAPPLE. It was mind blowing. You could tell it was just so fresh and the cocktail washed it down nicely!
I ended up getting a foot massage which was sooo good! I've now decided I'm going to get a full body one when I get to the islands! I think I can hold out another two days! I also bought a canvas piece of art work for the house I haven't bought yet! I feel that preparation is key in life and it will look beautiful over my front room fireplace!
Now I'm all alone until the 15th again and tomorrow I am getting the bus down to Phnom Penh! However, I have met a lovely young Irish man who is also making the same journey on the same bus and may stay at the same hostel.. My life can sometimes be really hard!
