Last day in London. Having a late flight but wanting to avoid 5pm traffic we checked out of the hotel and literally walked around the corner and spent the morning at the British Museum. A great way to finish the trip. Went on the tour of the Japan exhibition then took ourselves around the Egyptian and Aztec sections. Went back to the hotel, grabbed the suitcases then hopped on the tube from Russell Street on the Picadilly line all the way through to Heathrow. V...

In short, we visited the Tower of London (we were there early and avoided the queues), Tina did the London Bridge, we walked along the Thames to St Pauls, crossed the Millenium bridge to the Tate, had a walk around the Globe Theatre. Having done the buses and tube previously our plan was to use the black cabs this day. It worked much better, getting us to the Tower early, getting us from the Tate to Selfridges with minimal fuss and then later back to our hotel. ...

Prior to the trip we had organised a tour for this day to stratford-On-Avon and the Cotswolds. We had a 8am pickup from the nearby Royal National hotel. We bought tickets for the hop on/hop off bus and spent way too much time in traffic doing a loop of the city. It was good to see places like Kensington palace, Notting Hill etc (from the bus) and get that perspective. We bought tickets for Buckingham Palace and did the tour, takes you through two full wings of the palace. This is only available for a few months over summer. We took the train from Waverley station in Edinburgh to London (Kings Cross station). Nice to be on a train again, the first class tickets were again a good idea. Complimentary meals and drinks on the train. Very relaxing. Wifi all the way was good. From Kings Cross station we hopped on the Picadilly line to Russell Square and got to our small but well located hotel.
