Hello to you all!! In Thailand right now, getting in some beach action on the lovely Thai beaches. Since my last email went spent 2 more weeks in south india doing some pretty cool stuff. We went on a day long boat ride down the backwaters on Kerela which was really lovely, some some spice and tea plantations (no PJ tips though) and went trekking through a national park on the look out for tigers and elephants, which we failed at dismally only managing to find some tiger poo and a footprint! However we did manage to spot some elephants later on while on the boat. Cant beat seeing elephants in the wild as so many of the elephants in india are working animals and look pretty damn depressed! So that was India done and dusted. It was pretty hardcore and pretty sure the most diverse country we will ever see. Mental poverty and stunning countryside, the rich and the poor, right along side each other but a million miles way. Crazy place!
Flew in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) 2 weeks ago and stayed in the KL area for about a week soaking up the city atmosphere. It was a real breath of fresh air after india - so clean and modern and built up, and had a really good vibe. We saw a supermarket and freaked out in excitement as it had been quite some weeks since we saw something which resembled a proper shop...with proper food!! Hannah caught some nasty india flu bug thing which hit her pretty hard so took it fairly easy while we were there, but all is well and good now. Saw the worlds tallest twin towers which were pretty impressive, and very tall funnily enough!
Been in Thailand for a week now, spent most of our time so far staying in a hut on Ko Phi Phi (the isalnd where the film The Beach was filmed). Beautiful beaches with white white white sand and the most amazing turquoise colour sea. Needless to say we loved it there! We did some snorkelling which i really loved, saw some really colourful sea life. And also completed my life long dream and entered an eating competition one night.....and won!! 4000Baht (65pounds) in the bank thank you very much. I lived up to my Augustus Gloop uni nickname (fat chocolate eating kid from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and managed to eat 2 jars of Nutella chocolate spread in 3 minutes. All of which was seen again about half an hour later (sorry dad!!) Going to put the money towards getting my divers lisense when we get to Ko Tao next week as the diving there is meant to be spectacular. Really looking forward to that. In Phuket right now, which closely resembles Blackpool beach with plenty of chavvy families on cheap package holidays. So think we'll be moving on to Ko Samui pretty soon!
Would be really nice to hear what you are all up to back home. Fill me in on all the gossip!
Take care, Amy xxxx
