We knew before we set off that traveling with a 2 year old would not allow us to do and see all there is to see. The option of seeing the Bungle Bungle range by land which involved a 2 hour 4WD tour each way into the national park as well as the hikes once we were in was going to be too much for Zoe.
In light of that, we couldn't come all this way and not see past the caravan park, so Thomas, Ben and I took an hour flight in a 6-seater Cessna plane that took us from one end of the Bungle Bungles to the other. From the air the view was spectacular, the unique beehived shaped domes wrapped in orange and black bands of mineral and rock is a sight to behold! Looking down into the deep gorges from the air gives a perspective like no other. Thomas was in constant contact with the pilot through our head phones with constant questions largely surrounding what animals has he seen from the air! The late afternoon flight also gave us a beautiful view along the west side of the canyons and ridges as the sun seems to shine a spotlight on the wonder within the rocks, a true jewel of the Kimberley.
As we headed back in flight to the runway, Ben found it all too much and fell asleep in the plane and only woke when we needed to clear some cattle off the runway before landing, this of course required a low fly-by over the cows to "move them along"!
A night around the communal campfire toasting marshmellows ended a day where the kids (and I) could tick off another different type of aircraft we had been in ...

Another day of travel awaits us.
