Well after a reasonable nights sleep on the coach we arrived safely at Foz do Iguaçu bus terminal at 8am. During the trip we had met another English couple Simon and Ella, so the four of us headed off to look for accommodation for the night. Found a funky little hostel, Supernova, close to the main road that runs straight to the falls. Bags down, quick wash and change of clothes then off to visit the Brazilian side of the impressive Iguazu Falls. Even though I have seen photos before they didn't do them justice, only seeing them with your own eyes can you appreciate their sheer size and beauty...275 waterfalls stretching over 2.7km, with The Devil's Throat (Garganta del Diablo) 269ft high. Unfortunately they only made the shortlist for the New 7 Wonders of the World!
The following morning the four of us along with another English couple headed for the Argentinean boarded to see the Falls from the other side. We were told that because we were returning to Brazil the same day we didn't need our exit stamp out of the country so we left our passport in the locker...we wont be doing that again!! Easton and I were back on the bus to collect our passports. Apart from that hiccup I cant believe how quick and easy it is to cross the boarder and there is little security. For anyone wishing to visit the Falls we would recommend to stay on the Argentinean side as it has more restaurants and bars etc and is relatively cheaper.
Well...we thought the view from the Brazilian side was amazing but the Argentinean side allows you to get up close and personal...WOW!! We'd been told by Vicky (who'd we'd met in Ilha Grande) to do the jet boat ride that actually goes under the waterfalls, luckily prior warning had told us to take a change of clothes because we got soaked!! Amazing experience, not that we could see much because of the amount of water beating down into your face, but the adrenaline was fantastic (Easton constantly laughing.) The sights we have seen over the last 2 weeks in sunny Brazil have been a memory not to forget, definitely a country I'd recommended, even though costs are similar to the UK. Onwards and South to our next destination... Uruguay!!
