Cairo, Egypt
Here it is...It's going by so fast! Day number four. Tonight we're staying at the "Intercontinental Cairo Semiramies Hotel" for $345.00 and then off to take a tour of Egypt. We stop at a stoplight, and notice how diffrent people look than the ones in America. Their clothes are not the only thing different that is a part of their culture. I noticed their makeup, hair, and jewelry too. I wanted to know more about it, so I stopped and asked one of the women about it. She said that the women of Egypt wear elaborate costume jewelry that served to embellish their usually plain costumes. When I asked about the hair, she replied, that the hair is actually wigs which they wear over their own cropped hair. Very interesting. The wigs were made from real hair or from wool, and for specail occasions, theyvwore curled wigs. They do wear makeup and both men and women made up their eyes and lips. Eyes were rimmed, eyebrows were painted, and lashes were darkened. They also used a dye called henna to redden their nails and hair. At parties women wear a cone of scented fat on their heads that slowly melted making their heads smell nice. After the party, we thanked our new friend and got in our car and drove to eat. Finally, we went to the hotel to get some sleep for another exciting day in Egypt tomorrow!
