Had a late night eating pasta & drinking St. Emilion wine, & then up early to drop Scotti to golf at Royan.
Caroline, Alan & I went into the town & found a market, full of fresh fruit, vegetables & clothing. We sat down for a coffee & I bought a cucumber for 'breakfast,' apricots, & the sweetest strawberries I've ever tasted. I also bought some shorts & a dress.
We went to the Catholic Church service, which seemed to take forever to set up & for the choir to practise, so we only stayed for half an hour.
Drove along the Royan coastline, which is home to the rich & famous, apparently not unlike St. Tropez, but I didn't think much of it - very touristy & a hard-packed sandy beach. Along the other way though, were some smaller more inviting stretches of beach with fishing huts on tall stilts.
Drove back to see Scotti finishing on the 18th! He had been in a 4 with Frenchmen who had a little English, one of whom gave Scott a pair of golf shoes to wear to save him buying a pair. We had the most beautiful lunch there - really exquisite food.
