So for the rest of our 3 weeks in Sydney we decided to do the main touristy stuff like visit all the beautiful beaches, drink lots of over priced cocktails and climb a bridge.
On Monday 9th April we visited the beautiful Watsons Bay, you guessed it, a beautiful beach with extrordinary views of the city skyline... unbelievable. This little outing consisted of beach chills and bathing trying to tan the pale british skin. We also hiked up camp cove to explore some cool light house - we only took 200 pictures on this hike but you know "do it for the gram" and all that. AMongst this hike we also discovered more hidden gems - a stunningly beautiful beach spot hidden away amongst hanging trees... whilst trying to get another kodak moment walking up and down the steps leading to the beach, to our surprise we observed some nudists... it definitely lived up to its name "Lady Bay" however unfortunately these brave nudists were wrinkly old men and not what you'd hope for, the next Channing Tatum, Damn.
Despite the nudist beach with unfortunately absolutely "no talent" whatsoever, there are so many beaches you can visit in Sydney that are quite spectacular, and this is whats good about the city, its like Hovis - best of both - City and Beaches #DreamLiving
Also, during the first full week I actually finally got a tour of this beautiful city, from a pal back home, Rachel! She showed us the famous Opera House (A must see) sensational some might say, but also not as white as it looks. You can however get a decent picture on the go pro sitting on the steps outside of it - we looked like a girl band however - Albums out soon guys.
We also bi-passed through the botanical gardens and strolled across the world famous Sydney Bridge, thanks Rach, you were quite the tour guide. Drinks at the Opera Bar were also a delight, especially with those views. The average cocktail price was $20, bit annoying really that I'm not a "beer bird" quite expensive if you only drink gin or cocktails but again its a must see/do.
Sydney has been an unbeliebale place to visit and much to my surprise a livable place. Something to consider once ive finished touring the east coast and completed my regional work.
During my time in Sydney I would like to tell you more about some of the touristy things you can do, its definitely not all about getting drunk and boozing your money away, there is honestly a lot to do and some of which we missed out due to saving funds for our trip, but that just means I must go back again. (Hunter Valley, Figure of eight pools and port stephens - you are still on my list)
One of the best things I have found about this city is the transport links, trains run so frequently and the buses are decent too (not like what you get in Birmingham anyhow), you definitely dont need a car whilst living here. If you get off the train at Milsons Point - and your a sunbathe enthusiast like me - I reccommend a visit to the Olympic Pool - the clues in the name - but other than that its pretty to look at and catch some rays with yet another view of the bridge. It honestly doesnt matter where you are in this city, I can tell you now, you can never get enough photos of that bloody bridge - my memory on my phone is now full, brilliant.
THE MOST MEMORABLE TOURISTY ACTIVITY
If you dont mind blowing over $300 I honestly reccomend doing the Harbour Bridge Climb - not only is it a good climb but the views are "on point" (down with the kids I know). Make sure you do this on a sunny day, thats when you get the best pictures - also the tour guides are decent and I know a lot more about the bridge and opera house now (not that I can remember).
Just before I come to an end in writing this post, I cant miss out some other hot spots whilst in Sydney.
Visit Palm Beach - Try to do this on a SUnday if you havent got a car - if you love a hike like me, the view point is pretty decent and up their with the famous "Phi Phi View Point" in Thailand. Also, if you didnt know already, Palm Beach is where they film "Home and Away" - that annoying aussie soap that your mom/nan watches after work at 5 o clock, still, pretty cool to say you've been there.
Visit Blue Mountains - DO NOT pay for the tour like us idiots - the national parks are all free to get into (just dont get lost) - if you google the hot spots - it honestly works out cheaper to hire a car between a group of you - you can still get the FB profile pic - at a cheaper cost.
If you stay in Bondi, Bondi Backpackers is a decent hostel, right on the beach front, you can drink all the free "goon" they give you (goon is basically the dreggs of the mix they use to make wine - not too tasty but if you get a fruity version your on to a winner - not too bitter and cheap drunken night). But you can also make the most of the beaches whilst there too, do the Bondi to Coogee Coastal walk - stunning and worth the aching feet. Finally, its worth a visit to the Darling Harbour too, beautiful views, great lunch deals and a decent night out.
Hope you have enjoyed the first step to my adventure, next stop Sydney - Airlie Beach - an snippet of the East Coast for us (A full version of this to commence after the completion of regional work)
