So 3 days in Bangkok, pretty crazy place. We arrived Saturday morning and just relaxed at the hostel, then went to china town for some food and cruised around the local area. We were right in the middle of a ton of street markets selling all kinds of useless crap that on another day I'd have been tempted to buy if my bag wasn't so rammed. We were thinking of when to do the big night out on the famous Kao San road and unfortunately for us, logistically it was pointing to the very first night, despite having not slept in 2 days. Anyway we begrudgingly got ourselves prepared for the night, meeting this typical American jock at the hostel who to be fair to him got us in the mood. So we got there and as expected it was crawling with wasted tourists, so not holding back we joined the festivities and got pretty hammered in a few bars. The American guy was an absolute horndog and went after anything in a skirt which was pretty funny. We spent some time in a club and then a few more bars, met loads of people from loads of places and drank loads of booze and got back late. Now, this isn't much different from home but hey we had to do it at least once. The next day was pretty chilled, just went to a big park where thousands of locals were all doing aerobics in perfect sync which was quite a sight. Me and Ben pussied out of joining in. Monday morning we hit the Grand Palace and What Pho temple and saw loads of extravagant and bright structures and tons of Buddhas, including an absolutely mahusive one that took up a entire hall about 50m long. It was all pretty spectacular. We left Bangkok Monday evening for Phuket by plane. All in all I thought Bangkok was awesome, yeah it was boiling hot and you get hassled all the time but I enjoyed the culture shock. The only thing that worries me is how much chicken and rice I will have eaten by the end of South East Asia, I hope tons haha…
