8/02/2010 - Left england to fly into Bangkok. spent one night in Bangkok in Udee hostel. Got a tuk tuk to Khao san road. Rather bright, loud and very vibrant! We paid too much for the tuk tuk but we wouldn't discover that until the end of our trip. Backpacks were too heavy so we ditched some clothes here, and my mobile phone by accident - oops!
10/02/2010 - Took a overnight train to Suranthai. Train wasn't too bad.
11/02/2010 - 13/02/2010 Had breakfast then tok a bus to Krabi. Got dicthed an hour and a half in the wrong direction and ended up sticking down a deposit for a room at the travel agents we got left at. Met Danny and Lila on the bus - was abit weary of them. Danny had someone picking them up so said he would drop us in krabi town center. Jim came and again said he would drop us in Krabi town center, but ended up taking us to his mountain resort and said he would take us down later instead. We ended up staying here for 2 nights.
The mountain resort had a lovely bar with yummy food and nice staff. We stayed in a tent on the resort next to a lus natural spring water pool. The first night in the tent I felt something crawling on me and put the head torch on to discover there was ants running all over us and our belongings - horrible! I think we used about a full spray can repellant to try and kill them all, Not fun and we didn't sleep too well!
The next day we discovered that the tent was on a ant hill, and had some holes in it. We were going to get a taxi into krabi but this would cost more then another nights accomadation, and we could get a lift for free the next day. So we taped up the holes and had a better nights sleep.
13/02/2010 - Checked into the grand view hotel in Krabi and got a air con room. Stayed here for 2 nights I think, and found a nice cafe to get breakfast from. Got the songthaew to Ao nang and had a mooch around. Had a good night in the wild west bar which was owned by a mafia member. Spent 1300 baht on beer and yummy cocktails - devastated until we realised this was the grand total of £26. Saw Danny and Lila and Rob who we had previously met.
15/02/2010 - Cheked into the greentea guesthouse for 2 nights - was half the price of the grand view hotel for a fan room - £5 for both of us instead of £10 haha. Went to Railey beach one day oon the boat which was lovely - well one side of it anyway.
17/02/2010 - Got the ferry to Koh lanta and stayed in some crazy swedish guesthouse, that played crazy old music - the type that frankies and Bennys would play - there was a bar underneath it. Hired a scooter and went to the end of the island - was tiny only took 90 minutes from one end to the other! Wanted to go to the national park but the road was all rocky and crazy. Spent time on the beaches here - they were lovely, but continually got stung by time jellyfish. Broke the inner tube on the scooter - got this fixed before we gave it back - cost something ridicolous like £1.30 to fix it.
19/02/2010 - Got the ferry from Koh Lanta to Ko Phi Phi. The island was quite expensive compare to the main land, and full of backpackers partying. Hired a kayak and went to monkey bay. The beach was covered with monkeys, kayaing was tiring, made harder due to the heat. Took a day trip from ko phi phi and went snorkelling in several places, one place called skark point - some guys saw a shark but I didn't. Also went to Maya bay where the beach was filmed. Was nice but a bit overrated. Went swimming at the other side of the bay - water was so clear, we jumped off the side of the boat.
21/02/2010 - Had another night in the green tea guesthouse and went to railey beach again. Took the snorkel, but there was too many rocks too spend any time in the sea really.
22/02/2010 - Got a overnight bus to Bangkok as it was half the price of the train - next time I would definitely just pay the extra the bus was horrendous! Got to Bangkok at 6am, so had a mcdonals breakfast and tried to figure out where we were. Found khoa san road and checked in to swadee hostel. Picked up our stuff from udee as they had kindly emailed us to advise we left it and said they would hold on to it! Was nice and they let us check in at around 8am so we went traight to bed. Had a ponder around Bangkok and went to the hard rock cafe for tea that night. Got a bus to the airport. It was called the express bus - the driver was a crazy driver and even was driving in to oncoming traffic at one point - were relieved when our feet touched the ground. Sad to leave, but know i'll be back some day to see the rest of it.
Time to say goodbye too Thailand, next stop Australia!
