Well, I arrived safety in Bangkok on 27th Dec after a delay in UK. it was that cold the plane needed de-icing. I reckon this is a sign to come of my trip. At least i got there in time for some food and beer, before being talked into go to a ping pong show. I wont go into detail here, but i have a question 'why would they use razor blades in their act' i'm mentally scared for life.
The next day (28th) I get a flight to Krabia, my friends followed on a later flight. We should have all arrived in time to get the ferry to Ko Phi Phi. No such luck, another flight delay. So we had to change our plans as we missed the last ferry. This would not normally have bothered me as we could have stayed in krabia over night and got the ferry the next day. unfortunately we had a hotel booking (50 pounds at night, which was already paid).
So we got on a bus to Ao Nang lovely cruisey town by the beach, where we organised a boat to take us to phi phi. We tried to get a speed boat (quoted price 100 pounds) but couldn't get hold of the driver. The other option which we took was to go by long-tail boat (cost 70 pounds) - 'this should only take 1 hour' said the thai organiser. Aaron was our driver '1 hour to island', 2 hours later i felt that i had been on one of the coolest boat rides ever. We didn't leave until 6pm and the sunsets about 6.45pm. it was great to see the sunset as we passes lots of islands on the way. It was really cool that we saw lights in the background that looked like alien landing strips, these were the thousands of fishingboats off to catch the fish of the day. But the coolest thing was the storm leading us all the way to the island which didn't affect the boat at all. We gave Aaron a big tip as he was so good getting us to the island in the dark. As we landed he said 'this was the first time i did that in the dark'. The picture on my friends faces was priceless!
I've been on the island for a few days now and loving the island life. I don't know how thailand can top this. On our first night of the island i managed to burn the bottom of my foot by a fag but. We went to a pub called hippies and its on the beach, we watched the flame throwers. I just started my 2nd beer when the idiot throw the fag but on the floor and i stood on it. its hard to walk on the beach with flip flops, so i took them off. to kill the pain i stood in the sea and drank a whiskey bucket.
2 of the girls went home. suzy and i carried on to another bar on the island called ibiza. i don't think we had even had a chance to order a beer before being chatted up by 2 irish boys. after lots of beers and kissing we decided to head home. I noticed how late it was when i saw the sunrising at 6.30am (at least i can say i've seen one). I spend the rest of the day pretty much sleeping. the last two nights have been quiet ones so i can have lots of energy for new years!
Yesterday (30th) we took a boat trip around phi phi. the beaches are to die for, pure white sandy beaches. along the way we did some snorkeling which was lovely, however i couldn't be bothered to put my fins on. whilst enjoying watching the fish below, someone hit my foot with a fin, boy did i feel it. my toe is blue and purple and my foot has blown up like a balloon. I can just about walk on it which is a good thing as i can still just about make it to the bars.
It's new years eve, i'm off to start drinking. I wish everyone a happy new year!
