Had an early start but I didn't mind - it was elephant time! :D
Had some breakfast at the hotel before leaving as it was included. Someone from elephantstay (where we're staying for the next three days/two nights) picked us up from our hotel. The traffic was absolutely terrible! It took almost twice the time it should have done and we finally arrived 15 minutes late but we didn't miss the induction thankfully.
We had a very warm welcome when we arrived, the people are really lovely and friendly. We were shown our rooms which are basically bungalows.
Had an induction where we were told what to expect and all the safety stuff etc. we then were paired up with our own elephants for the next three days and were introduced to them. My elephant is called Rumruay. She's such a sweetie!
We fed our elephants pineapple plants before riding them. Wow they are so prickly! It's great to be able to ride them without any seats that typical elephant trekking tours do. It feels so much more natural which is great. We went into the river for the elephants to have a wash and to cool down a bit. Got soaked of course!
We had some free time before lunch so we got the chance to observe this more adorable baby elephant, Monica, and her mother. Monica is the cutest elephant I've ever seem! She greeted us and started rolling around in hay. Absolutely adorable!
When lunch time finally came we were starving! Typical homemade Thai food which was nice.
After lunch we had to identify our elephants by drawing them. I'm not the world's best artist, in fact I'm the total opposite lol! I never thought I would be able to tell the difference between a group of elephants!
It was then time to give the elephants some water but mine didn't want any!
We cleaned and scrubbed three elephants and got absolutely soaked! One of the mahouts (men who work with elephants) was messing around and hosed us right down!
Had a break afterwards where we had some hot chocolate. I needed that to warm me up after being soaked lol!
Fed the elephants more food. They never ever stop eating! Took them for another walk afterwards and went into the river again for a wash. We walked for a bit longer this time.
After the walk we put our elephants to 'bed'.
The rest of the evening was then ours! Had some free time before dinner so took more photos of other elephants and observed them. Loving them more as the time goes by!
After dinner we were shown a documentary about the place but of course there were no subtitles so we couldn't understand anything!
An early night as were were knackered after a long and busy day. The excitement definitely took it out of us.
Cannot wait for the next two days!
