Beautiful park, no flash floods. What more could anyone ask for?

We lived through our first natural disaster here! We had planned to go on on a hike in the afternoon, but it was so hot we decided to go have a siesta in the trailer instead. Clouds were forming as we headed back, and when we were getting settled inside a storm started. The rain was quite heavy, but it didn't seem too crazy, so I was paying attention to something else for a few minutes, and when I looked outside the window again, we were in a serious flash flood ...

Antelope Island was beautiful! We were hoping to see at least one of the buffalo that roam the island (or perhaps an antelope), but no such luck. A big part of Salt Lake was dry from the drought, and super stinky. Thankfully, the winds were in our favor for most of out stay, but shifted in the morning and we high-tailed it out of there!

Three Island Crossing State Park was part of the Oregon Trail so it was fun to learn about that journey. I got a kick out of their grocery list (pictured)! We enjoyed a patio lunch at the Y Knot Winery here.

Next stop was Horn Rapids Campground, which said it did not take reservations and was first-come-first-serve. But when we arrived, there was a giant sign in the road saying a church group had reserved the entire place! Thankfully, they were kind enough to let us stay there anyway, and even brought over little welcome bags for the girls with toys and flashlights. Bugs were bad here and we got to try out our mesh bug suits!
