Heya, So i looked at the itinerary and turns out I did quite alot of stuff on the tour.
Second day of the trip was wkd. Rocked up at this little fishing village on the coast. Punta De Choros. The guide said that we were going to see sealions and penguins and stuff. Cant say I was very excited as I have seen maybe a billion sealions in NZ (I know spoilt or what, will stop that!) Turns out this was really good. For a 50minute trip over to the islands I was expecting a ferry but this is a little fishing village- jumped on this little rickerty old boat over to Isle Damas and Isle Choros. We got to see the sealions up close and playing around the boat. The penguins were kool too, havnt seen any in the wild before. Very Happy Feet but without the dancing :D! Can safetly say that this little fishing village rocked.
Also surprisingly kool was the ´train cemetry´. Yeah I know, I looked at it too and went óh my god how boring....however I was wrong..again!!! Middle of nowhere was this big station of rusty old trains and the swivel thing that used to let the trains out of their sheds. It looked just like the Thomas the Tank engine Cartoon! Loved climbing on the trains and taking pictures of us driving the things. Unfortunatly my camara wasn´t working so your just going to have to believe me when i say it was kool.
Right so Im still in Arica north of Chile. Slowly getting more confident to at least try the spanish. Have to really not many people speak english! Today has been a productive day buying a ticket to La Paz, trying a ´choro´on the beach and getting myself a taxi there and back withour getting ripped off. Yay! Every little thing is a bit of an achievement - its kool. Will look at taking some spanish lessons either in Bolivia or in Peru. Just a few hours so I dont forget what Ive learnt...Ideally I would love to be able to chat freely with the locals however I guess that will have to wait for a bit. If I come home speaking in broken english you´ll know why.. Good-time-trip-yes...por favor!
So Bolivia tomro only 9hours on the bus... no more beach for a bit.... Heard its cold óver there and theres some flooding somewhere. Fingers crossed hey! More border crossings...will not take veg!
Lots of love
Suzie
