With our last days in Porto we decided to take advantage of the available tours. On our walk to meet our Tuk Tuk driver we discovered a great shopping/pedestrian street where we purchased some local artwork. We had a great private tuk tuk ride with Miguel who was fun and informative. We learned much more about the places we had encountered during our walks around the city.
On our last day in Portugal we chose to explore the Douro Valley on a wine tasting and river cruise. We had coffee in Amarante which is a beautiful historical city. Next we had a tour and tasting at the Croft Winery followed by a fantastic lunch in Pinhao (our favorite Portuguese meal). After lunch we had a blast on the river cruise with our group (two women from CA, a family from Hong Kong and their new Portuguese son-in-law). Our last tour stop was a modern winery called Quinta do Portal. During our ride back to Porto, we got a close up look of the fires plaguing Portugal and we were lucky the road remained open. Our guide Manuel was excellent throughout the tour and dropped us off at our apartment after a long day.
After a night of packing we said goodbye to Porto and boarded our plane for New York.
