how to explain this feeling-going to another part of the world -to somebody who never really traveled or doesnt share my "ichy feet"
everybody who knows me knows how much i love to explore the unknown and how much im in love with india.
out of an idea to meet my dear friend from canada became a trip to the asian part of the world-thailand,cambodia and vietnam!wow that sounded like a real adventure.
my backpack was packed quickly and that my indian visa only came 3 days before my departure worried my family and friends more than me.
eventually the day came and i was full of excitment, happiness and curiousity.
i had an 18 hour flight via mumbai in front of me.since i traveled last things have changed and even an indian airline like jet airways can offer a bit of luxery.
the flight attendents were beautifully dressed in bright yellow asian style jackets and the seats were big enough and comfortable.i was most impressed with my own little touchscreen tv.the flight was very pleasent and supersnail watched 2 hindi movies and 3 english ones to pass the time.i was far to excited to sleep.
we reached bangkok at 7.20am.the airport in bangkok is so modern and nice and i, who was ready for a trip into a jungle, wasnt very impressed as everything looked so european and clean to me.i couldnt make my mind up if i like it or not.anyways everything went smooth- i got my first stamp in my new passport and my bag!lol.
i decided to take the cheapest option into town-the bus.it took an hour and i had enough time to make my mind up about bangkok.i got so confused with the first impression of bangkok with its big streets, highways and multy story buildings.it looked like london to me just with the sun out.but than suddenly i could see the little huts surounded by streams and all the green.what a strange but incredible combination.
i was ready for my first tuk tuk ride as i had to get to my hotel which was hidden away from the main roads.-WE LOVE THE TUK TUK!hey people and even sandra the supersnail(why on earth supersnail most of you must think-will tell you later.lol)can bargian if she has to.i have to say the thai people are very friendly, polite and helpful-no big hassle and as much cheating as in india.
our guest house was lovely.for£12 we had a superclean room with tv,ac and a fridge.breakfast was included and tea and coffee free.i was most impressed.
guys i love the heat.i just loved it.i walked through the streets of bangkok and enjoyed the exotic place, the people, the sun and the unknown.sandra toddled around the grand palace at the time of the kings arrival-ups.of course he was traveling in a german car!!!
the whole day i just walked.i found those ferries which take you up and down the river.a very cheap and nice option to see the beautiful sights of the river.i just kept jumping on and off those ferries not knowing where they go.you have to remeber nobody speaks english.what fun it was to be in the crowed.
at the end i jumped off close to my hotel and khao san road.at nights bangkok looks more like delhi with all its lights, street markets, street kitchens,dogs....I LOVE IT.i walked around khao san road which is famous amongst backpackers-all those stores, restaurants, bars, colours, music and people.foreigners siting everywhere and enjoying themself.lots of them had their guitar with them and just sang.-a lovely, peaceful
atmosphere which cant be explained or decribed.thats happiness, freedom!
i felt very safe and comfortable only my feet didnt.i needed some sandals so that my feet could feel and see the sun.off i was on my mission to get some sandals for myself-plenty of shoeshops around.i found some who had sandra written on them and i got them for a good price.happy with my shoes and my day i made my way back to the hotel which was just around the corner.
what a day and how happy i was.i didnt see much of bangkok but what i saw i really liked and i would love to come back to see more of it.the thai people are lovely and even they dont speak english they try to comunicate and to help.
in a few hours my friend is coming and in the morning we will be on our trip to explore south east asia even we havent got a plan how and where.what we know is that we have only 2 weeks!only 2 weeks and so many places to go!never mind my little lobster and me the supersnail are ready to go.and we can do it even people told us that we are crazy and that it is not possible to travel 3 countries in 2 weeks.WE CAN!
to be able to travel the world is a gift and im so grateful for it.it makes me to the person i am.it brings the smile on my face, the happiness in my heart and gave me an easy going attitute.its an amzing feeling to see how people live in this part of the world.how happy they can be with the little they have.they share, the smile but they also work very hard.its so precious being able to be part of this world-also being able to see untouched nature.
I LOVE TO TRAVEL!
