This port was added to our itinerary to replace the aborted water sport day in the Greek Islands due to the cool water temperature.

I took a tour consisting of a ninety minute bus trip to the city of Split where we were shown the vast Palace of Roman Emperor Dioclesius built around 750 AD on the shore of the Aegean Sea. This was his place of retirement after he abdicated his throne due to ill health. Built of limestone blocks, the engineering was advanced and has stood all these years.

We were served lunch nearby and had time for some shopping before heading back to the ship.
