Well… Hello again.
I am now in Nairobi having fixed the bike with my limited ( but growing ) knowledge of the mechanics of my machine and travelled through Rwanda and Uganda, both bloody marvelous.
The mountain gorillas in Rwanda were everything I had hoped for, cute, cuddly and very very BIG. A large male pushed me out of the way to catch up with it's kids ..!!!
The adorable though rather unimaginatively named 'Bambi' at The Haven Lodge' was far more accommodating for the photo call.
Kayaking over the rapids on the Nile in Uganda was incredible, slightly scary and beautiful. The very friendly locals adding to a stunning country.
Despite the unfortunate 'laying down of the bike' and cracking the rocker head cover resulting in oil pumping out at an alarming rate, a quick roadside repair under the close scrutiny of no less than 54 villages, all is going well.
I'm now in Nairobi, Kenya, reputed to be the most dangerous city in Africa, but so far it has proved to be safe and relaxed, although the hotel and shopping mall are about as far as I have ventured and I am now sat in a 'Starbucky' type place catching up on emails and a long overdue blog update.
From here I head up in to Ethiopia, Sudan and Saudi Arabia or Egypt ( yet to decide). Then the tricky part starts. Due to an ever changing political climate, and the odd war here and there, It appears the only way to get to Pakistan is to take a boat from Israel to Italy!!! ..and then to ride through Greece, Turkey and Turkmenistan. So ,as I'll be so close when I'm in Italy I am considering riding up to England to pop in and say hello before continuing on my way and possibly joining up with my Bro for some adventures on route to India.
It is still a wonderful journey and I'm now very much looking forward to the next continent.
There's a few more pictures in the photo section…
May see you soon ..!!
Mark ..x.
