Beaches Sandy Bay, Negril, Jamaica, 2012
Negril, Jamaica
This trip to Beaches Sandy Bay, Negril, Jamaica, was taken by Karen and her family to celebrate Karen and Glenn's 25th wedding anniversary.
Saturday-Got in, settled, became familiar with the resort. Severe storm late afternoon. Passed.
Sunday-Lia and I did our SCUBA class in the pool ... lots of fun. At night (entertainment) we played a group game of "Name that tune" of all tv shows ... we won! :o) After that, there was an acrobatic show that was very good and entertaining.
Monday-Lia and I did our first SCUBA dive ... was a bit of a big jump for Lia from pool lesson to open ocean and she cut it short ... will try again. James and I went to "Rick's Cafe" in Negril, Jamaica. ... look it up on Google. World-famous bar and grill, known for its locals diving off the high cliffs around the establishment. We went to the neighbor resort (Beaches Negril) for dinner at the "Seville" (Italian restaurant).
Tuesday-Becca and I did our Dolphin Swim. Outstanding! We have pictures and a DVD of our experience, a lot other resorts have this, as I have seen in Cancun. Again we went to the neighbor resort and ate at the "Arizona" (Mexican).
Wednesday-today Glenn and I went on a horseback ride and swim along the beach (the horses go in the water!).
Thursday-Kip and I (finally found an event!) went on a "glass-bottom boat" tour and saw … starfish, puffer fish, jelly fish, fan coral, brain coral, sea urchins, and a REAL find … a sea turtle! (Very rare to see … they are endangered and the boat captains said they rarely see them!).
Friday-2nd SCUBA dive started in the am but just as we were heading out, huge storm came with lightening and thunder and we had to abort the dive :o(
Lia and I waited a few hours for the storm to pass and we BEGGED to be able to go out in the afternoon … usually they would not allow it, but they really accommodated us and let us accompany a private dive … and WE DID IT!; the rest of the kids spent a few hours at the Cool Runnings Water Park. Our last evening we went to the "Sundowner" restaurant at Sandy Bay … beautiful views and they brought us desserts on their head!!
Saturday-had to pack up and leave very early :o(
